How To Say Some Professions In Arabic


Understanding different professions in Arabic can be incredibly useful, whether you’re working with Arabic-speaking colleagues, traveling, or simply expanding your language skills.

1- Doctor (طبيب – Tabeeb):

The word “طبيب” (Tabeeb) is used for both general practitioners and specialists.

For a female doctor, you might use “طبيبة” (Tabeeba).

2- Teacher (مدرّس – Mudarris):

The word “مدرّس ” (Mudarris) is commonly used for male teachers, while “مُدرّسه ” (Mudarrisah) is used for female teachers.

3- Lawyer (محامي – Muhami):

The Arabic term “محامي” (Muhami) is used for male lawyers, and “محامية” (Muhamiya) for female lawyers.

4- Engineer (مهندس – Muhandis):

The term “مهندس” (Muhandis) is used for engineers in general.

For a female engineer, “مهندسة” (Muhandisa) is appropriate.

5- Police Officer (شرطي – Shurti):

The word “شرطي” (Shurti) refers to a male police officer, while “شرطية” (Shurtiyah) is used for a female police officer.

6- Journalist (صحفي – Sahafi):

“صحفي” (Sahafi) is the term for a male journalist, while “صحفية” (Sahafiya) is used for a female journalist.

7- Businessman (رجل أعمال – Rajul A’maal):

The term “رجل أعمال” (Rajul Aamal) is used to refer to a businessman.

For a businesswoman, you would say “سيدة أعمال” (Sayyidat A’maal).
